Watch For
Common Zone 4b problems.
Snow mold (gray + pink)
Mow to 2.5 inches final cut. No late-October N. Rake matted spring damage.
Vole tunneling
Spring repair via overseed; KBG fills in via rhizomes.
Summer patch
Mix species; manage thatch; avoid drought stress on KBG monocultures.
Leaf spot in cool wet spring
Modern resistant KBG cultivars handle this. Avoid early-spring N excess.
Crabgrass + dandelion pressure
Pre-emergent at 55°F soil; broadleaf control in early summer or early fall.
